“Khu.éex’: The Magic of Noise”

Singletary’s art has become synonymous with the relationship between Tlingit culture and fine art. His glass sculptures deal with themes of Tlingit mythology and traditional designs, while also using music to shape his contemporary perspective of Native culture. Singletary co-founded and currently plays bass for the band Khu.éex’.
Khu.éex’ is an Indigenous band full of creative members, including storytellers, activists and artists, that bring this collective energy to the stage as one powerful unit. Their focus is raising awareness of social issues, stemming from the Native American struggle, that branch out to serious issues that affect all people.
They are bringing a much-needed Indigenous perspective while keeping their tribal culture and endangered ancient languages alive through music, storytelling and art.
Some of the band members were raised in traditional villages with cultural knowledge and understanding of the protocols of the culture, while some were raised among the urban Indigenous community of the Pacific Northwest. \
This year Heartstone Studios is working on releasing the upcoming documentary, “Khu.éex’: The Magic of Noise”. Michael Kleven (Director) and Elke Hautala (Producer) began filming the local Seattle band Khu.éex' in 2013. It all began from a chance meeting between internationally renowned glass artist and musician Preston Singletary with legendary music innovator Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic, Talking Heads). Now, over a decade later, their story is ready to be told.
