Kraken Hockey Mask Designed by Preston Singletary
Preston Singletary was selected to design a mask for the Seattle Kraken for their Indigenous Peoples Night in December 2024. This hockey mask features a Killer Whale design and was worn by Philipp Grubauer. The mask was painted by Ty Juvinel.
Singletary notes, "I got this call out of the blue that Philipp Grubauer wanted to get a goalie mask painted with one of my designs. I am new to the sport of Hockey, but had made friends in the owner circle. I have been attending games regularly ever since. In my mind, when a goalie makes a save I expect to hear the crowd utter the collective Gruuuuuuuu. If it doesn’t happen, something seems wrong….
It was a fun project to work on for a very nice man and exceptional athlete. It’s even more fun when there is a natural and easy connection which I felt with Gru, so it made the experience that much greater."
